Govt. clears Rs. 2,690-cr road upgrade

The state government is all set to float tenders for the construction of national highways being taken up with the help of Central government, which has already cleared Rs. 2,690-cr for upgrading the road network across the state, roads and buildings department, Minister Nageswara Rao said, adding that till date, Rs. 1,020-cr has already been received under Central Road Fund (CRF). Apart from this, central authorities have recently given its consent for the construction of Regional Ring Road with a length of 338 km. The current state of the outer ring road will not be adequate to cater to the burgeoning traffic requirement of the road stretch. The construction of regional ring road will be a prestigious project connecting Suryapet-Khammam-Kodad, Warnagal-Hyderabad, Suryapet-Mothe-Nayakangudem-Kusumanchi roads. The detailed project reports for 2,132 km-long national highway in the state cleared by the centre will be prepared shortly and construction work will start as quickly as possible.
