Govt. clears Rs.18,203 cr for urban housing

The Union government has recently cleared a staggering sum of Rs.18,203 crore as a Central assistance for setting up affordable urban housing units across cities in the country, said official spokesperson, claiming that Haryana has been allocated Rs.4,753 crore aimed at building 70,671 units. All 35 states and Union Territories have been covered under PMAY (U) Mission Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 3,21,567 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The projects were sanctioned across 523 cities in the states of Haryana, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Goa. The approval was recently given in the 32nd meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee. The highlights of the programs are Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, which walked away with 54,821 and 39,683 affordable houses at an investment of Rs.2,519 crore and Rs.1,059 crore, respectively.
