BMC scouts consultants for Rs.1,5000 cr coastal road

Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to appoint project management consultants for the ambitious 9.98 km coastal road project entailing an estimated cost of Rs.1,5000 crore, of which, Rs.1,500 crore is expected to be spent in the first year of construction, commissioner Ajoy Mehta said that the project is likely to take off from May this year. Two consultants will be appointed for Priyadarshani Park to Baroda Palace and Baroda Palace to Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The civic body also intends to appoint a third consultant for the section which involves construction of a tunnel. The consultants would review designs and drawings with respect to actual site conditions and suggest modifications for the project. But if any realignment or redesign is required, it will be carried out by the contractor and will be reviewed by the consultant. The consultants will also have to scrutinize the contractor's mobilization of equipment to ensure the nominated plant and equipment is delivered to the site in accordance with the contractor's program.
