road widening in AP
Ensuring smooth movement of vehicular traffic, NHAI has been given go-ahead by the Union Transport ministry for the widening of the 61-km stretch of Gundugolanu-Kovvur (GGK) road in Andhra Pradesh in the downstream south at an investment worth Rs.1,500 crore, said official sources, that the project in question will be completed in 30 months time. As a matter of fact, the road was originally laid to bear load of 30 MT capacities of vehicles. But large numbers of multi-axle vehicles are currently passing through Gamman India bridge road as it reduces 50-km distance when compared to National Highway. To prevent damage to the existing road, which is going to be converted into four-lane, it was decided to allow multi-axel vehicles on road continuously, they added.
