The union government has approved a grant of ₹369 crore for the overall development of national highways at Udupi–Chikkamagaluru. The ministry of road transport and highways approved the funds for the acquisition of land to construct a 29.1 km long NH-169A Hebri-Parkala four-lane road. Apart from this, additional funds have also been sanctioned for upgrading of highway and fixing the problems being faced on the shame during the monsoon seasons which include the construction of a break-wall and increasing the height of the existing wall near Nemmar, NH169.
