Govt approves ₹3,000 cr for infra projects in NE

Apart from taking a decision to make available 100% funding for central projects in Northeast region as compared to earlier funding provision of 90% from the Centre and 10% from state, it also approved worth ₹3,000 crore for the on-going infra projects in the region for the current fiscal. Projects are being monitored on a real-time basis, said official sources, claiming that the detailed project report is uploaded and gets cleared by state-level committees or the ministry. Projects worth ₹10,200 crore, including ₹3,500 crore of new works, which are currently being implemented in the eight states of the region, Department of North Eastern Region DoNER, Secretary Navin Verma said, claiming that the gap between sanction order and work order cannot be more than six months. The current government, soon after coming to power at the Centre, decided that it would deploy at least 80% of the DoNER ministry's allocation for the completion of old projects and invest the rest on new projects.
