Government to curb bullet train costs

The Union government is planning to curb manufacturing costs of bullet trains and to expand and speed up the operational ambit of the trains across major rail routes in the country. Achal Khare, MD of National High-Speed Rail Corridor Limited (NHSRCL) informed that the HRS Innovation Centre has been set up to reduce the bullet train project cost and dependence on foreign countries by developing high-speed technology using India's research and technical talent pool. The HRS Innovation Trust has a board of five members from the IITs of India, Japan and Tokyo Technical Education Institute as Executives and Advisory Council.
