Gorakhpur–Pilibhit Express Extended to Izzatnagar (Bareilly) to Boost Terai Connectivity

Indian Railway
Fulfilling a long-standing public demand, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Union MoS Jitin Prasada, flagged off the extension of the Gorakhpur–Pilibhit Express up to Izzatnagar (Bareilly) via video conference from Rail Bhawan, New Delhi.

The train, which originally ran between Lakhimpur and Gorakhpur and was extended to Pilibhit a few months ago, will now run up to Bareilly, significantly strengthening railway connectivity in Uttar Pradesh’s Terai region.

Indian Railways said the extension will provide major socio-economic benefits by improving market access for agricultural and forest produce, meeting daily mobility needs, and promoting tourism across the belt. Enhanced connectivity is also expected to create new employment opportunities and support the region’s broader development.
