The Central Government has announced the construction of a new ring road that will connect Maharashtra and Karnataka by skirting Goa’s coastal edge. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari shared the project details at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new observatory tower on the Zuari Bridge.
Estimated to cost between ₹12,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore, the road will boost connectivity in the region. The observatory tower itself, inspired by Paris’s Eiffel Tower, will feature viewing decks, a restaurant, and other tourist-friendly amenities, and is being developed on a public-private partnership model.
