The three-member cabinet advisory committee (CAC) has cleared over 60 projects worth ₹400 crore in Goa, said an official spokesperson, adding that the projects fall under the ambit of the departments of public works including ports and water infra, sports, tourism, health, science and technology, electricity, resources. Before leaving for the US, an order was issued vesting the CAC with power to clear cases above ₹200 lakh and up to ₹1,000 lakh processed by the finance department. The latest proposals to receive approvals include an expenditure sanction of ₹4.8 crore towards construction of a multi-purpose cyclone shelter and fire station at Porvorim. The project will be executed through the water resources department (WRD) and similar sanction of ₹3.8 crore has been issued towards the construction of a multi-purpose cyclone shelter at Mandrem in North Goa, he added.
