GNIDA approves ₹2,602 cr metro expansion

In a major boost to the metro connectivity in the NCR, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) recently approved ₹2,602 crore new metro connectivity to Greater Noida West by connecting Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park-5 in Greater Noida, Chairman and Chief Secretary in UP, Anup Chandra Pandey said, adding that there will be a total of nine stations on the route where the project will be carried out in two phases – five stations in the first phase and four stations in second. The DPR for the project has been approved by the government and the authority will kick-start the construction of first phase soon from sector 71 in Noida to sector 2 in Greater Noida West. Out of the total cost for the proposed metro line ₹1,521 crore will be spent on the construction work in the first phase. Both Noida and Greater Noida authorities will bear the cost of the construction of the proposed metro line which will cover around 15-km as the metro line falls in both Noida and Greater Noida authority's jurisdictions.
