Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao
A subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, GMR Airports, has emerged as the highest bidder and is all set to bag the development, operations and management of Nagpur‘s Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. It may be recalled that MIHAN India, a joint venture between Maharashtra Airport Development Company and Airport Authority of India, had in March 2018 sought requests for proposal to privatize the Nagpur airport. The project involves upgrade, modernization, operation and maintenance of the Nagpur airport for a period of 30 years and includes the construction of a new terminal among other things. Bids had been received from two bidders including GMR Airports and GVK, whereby the former, which submitted the highest revenue-share bid will be handed over the letter of award shortly.
