GMDA plans three roads at Udyog Vihar industrial hub

Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has decided to build and widen three roads in Udyog Vihar industrial hub connecting to Old Delhi road — from Shankar Chowk, Shyam Chowk and Atlas Chowk, respectively. The nodal agency is also constructing scores of flyovers and underpasses within its jurisdiction. The authorities want to make wider streets for smooth flow of traffic in all these stretches and is in the process of awarding multi-crore contracts for the work. However, environmentalists have raised eye brows on the large scale felling of trees and have asked the forest department to make public as to how and where the new trees will be transplanted, and have asked the nodal agency to plant five times more trees for those felled.
