Evincing keen interest in the projects, Indian as well as international realty majors are vying with one another to join hands for revamping major railway stations across the nation, said sources, adding that the major railway stations to be redeveloped are New Delhi, Howrah, Chennai Central, Pune, Amritsar, Jammu, Bikaner, Jamshedpur, and Kochi. In Mumbai, three railway stations named as Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Borivali, Thane, and Mumbai Central are up for grab in the metropolitan city. According to the Railway official, these 23 railway stations will be redeveloped in the first phase, and the bidding process will commence in August and the contracts will be awarded in early 2018. The Union Railway Ministry is likely to employ the Swiss Challenge method to obtain the best deals from the developers and that over a period, 400 railway stations will be revamped across the country using this method.
