The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is all set to start the construction for Hindon Elevated Road whereby the nodal agency is undertaking the construction work to extend the road across the rail tracks at Arthala. In the project in question, a total of 16 steel girders, also called spans, will be placed between pillars 169 and 171 - eight on each side of the double-carriageway- bridging across the railway line. The bridging of the gap between pillars 169 and 171 is the only incomplete portion of the road. It may be recalled that spans have already been placed across the remaining 225 pillars of the elevated flyway where the GDA has placed 3,497 concrete spans along the entire length of the elevated road, only steel girders will be placed across the railway line, Project head of Hindon Elevated Road, S K Jain, said, elaborating that as per norms only steel girders are permitted by the Railways for constructing bridges on tracks for safety reasons. Once the steel girders are installed, the entire structure of the elevated road will be completed.
