Four firms in the fray for tunneling work of metro projects

Afcons Infrastructure, Larsen & Toubro, Gulermak – Sam India Builtwell JV, and J Kumar Infraprojects have submitted their bids to build 2 underground (tunnel & station work) packages CS2 and CS3 of the 40.35 km Surat Metro Phase 1, being built by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). These civil packages with twin tunnels between Chowk Bazar and Kapodra, in the core area of the city, on the 21.61 km Line-1 (Sarthana – Dream City) are 3.46 km and 3.56 km long, and each comprises of 3 cut and cover stations with some box pushing and New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) work for station connectivity. The twin projects, which have to be completed in 40 months, will be built at an estimated investment of ₹929.46 and ₹942.16 crore, respectively.
