Flyover works to start in Jalandhar

NHAI Twin Flyover in Punjab
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to start work at the PAP Chowk and Rama Mandi Chowk area of Jalandhar in Punjab to build two ambitious and vital projects in the city, project director-cum-general manager, technical, NHAI, Vipan Sharma said adding that he was also part of a team of senior officials of the Union ministry of road transport and highways that visited the Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Crossing at Dakoha and Dhanowali for the spot study of the projects.

The projects included a railway over bridge at the Dakoha railway crossing and a railway under bridge (ROB) at the Dhanowali railway intersection. On this score, the railway has secured all the mandatory clearances from the defence ministry to shift the boundary walls to the defence area adjoining the proposed bridge. The process to acquire the land has already started and the construction work on the twin projects would start very shortly. The delay in construction of the flyovers had led to traffic chaos at Rama Mandi Chowk and PAP Chowk as deadlines for the project have been revised many times in the past two years but now the project is getting steered cleared at a fast pace, he added.
