Genie Marks 60th Anniversary with Electrification, Safety and Digital Innovations

Genie-60th-Anniversary
Genie is marking its 60th anniversary in 2026 with a showcase of new equipment, safety technologies and digital solutions focused on electrification, productivity, fleet performance and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

The company, which was incorporated on September 12, 1966, is showcasing its latest technologies at Vertikal Days, being held on September 9-10 at Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire, UK.

The display includes two hybrid boom lifts — the Z-45 FE articulating boom lift and the S-85 XC FE, Genie’s newest electrified boom lift. The S-85 XC FE is being showcased with the Lift Guard Lanyard Alert and Lift Guard Fall Arrest Bar safety systems.

The Z-45 FE and S-85 XC FE highlight Genie’s FE hybrid technology, which combines low-emission and fuel-efficient operation with rough-terrain capability and the flexibility required for indoor and outdoor applications. The S-85 XC FE additionally features Xtra Capacity (XC) performance, allowing operators to lift heavier loads and carry more tools to the work area.

The S-85 XC FE on display features Lift Guard Lanyard Alert, which provides visual and audible alerts when fall protection is not properly connected. Its Advanced configuration can also prevent machine operation until the lanyard is attached. The Lift Guard Fall Arrest Bar provides a designated anchor point for personal fall protection equipment.

Genie is also displaying its GS micro scissor lifts along with new accessories, including Lift Guard Sense, Lift Tools Integrated Access Deck and Lift Guard Zone Lighting.

Lift Guard Sense uses proximity sensing technology to help reduce the risk of operator entrapment near overhead obstructions. The system provides progressive responses through audible and visual alerts, automatic slowdown and function cut-off. It also allows operators to restart movement at reduced speed when conditions permit, helping maintain productivity.

Lift Guard Zone Lighting uses red laser lights to create a visible perimeter around the machine at ground level, increasing awareness among operators and nearby workers and helping reduce collision risks.

The Lift Tools Integrated Access Deck provides an additional 19.5 inches of working height within a fully enclosed railing on Genie micro scissors. The deck can be folded away when not in use to provide additional platform workspace.

Genie is also highlighting its Genie 360 digital tools, which are designed to simplify equipment ownership, service and support while helping rental companies maximise equipment uptime.

The latest solutions include Warranty Hub, which centralises product registration, warranty claims, coverage details and claim status; Genie Serial Hub QR Codes, which provide equipment-specific access to documentation, service history and troubleshooting information; and Genie Assist Chat Agent, an AI-powered support tool that provides real-time assistance to operators, technicians and rental partners.

Genie said the Genie Assist chatbot is now available through its mobile app and supports voice activation, enabling technicians to access information hands-free.

The company is continuing to roll out additional Genie 360 tools and features through 2026 as part of its focus on improving customer support across the equipment lifecycle.

“As jobsites modernize, Genie is expanding and evolving our customer experience to be more digitally integrated, allowing operators, fleet owners, service providers, and safety managers to ensure quality, uptime and safety are achieved seamlessly, and without compromise,” said Nicole George, Genie Vice President of Strategy and Brand Experience.

Genie President Josh Gross said the company’s 60-year journey has been defined by customer partnerships, quality and continuous innovation, adding that further investments are planned to support the company’s growth and industry leadership over the coming decades.
