The country's infra building major Essel Infraprojects Ltd. (EIL) has recently committed an investment of Rs. 5,700-cr for development of infrastructure projects in the state of Jharkhand. An announcement to this effect was made at the Jharkhand Investors Summit in Ranchi, recently, for which the company is inking an MoU with the state government, said official sources, stressing that the company with its futuristic objective to build smarter communities and world-class infrastructure is targeting projects in segments like roads & energy with an investment of Rs. 4,000-cr and Rs. 1,100cr, respectively. The remaining Rs. 600-cr will be invested in the urban infrastructure, energy including, hydro power, and tourism. Apart from this, Jharkhand mining baron, Anil Agarwal has also announced "big plans" for the state and committed $1 billion investment that includes setting up a 1 million ton capacity steel plant.
