The East Central Railway (ECR) has resumed work on its rail infrastructure and important rail projects across regions after relaxation in the nationwide lockdown guidelines, informed chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar and that after following standard operating procedure (SOP), the ECR has restarted yard re-modeling work at Kiul and Lakhisarai stations. This work is important as the Howrah-Jhajha-Patna Junction-Pt Deendayal Upadhaya Junction mainline route needs proper maintenance to cater to the increase in the line capacity to run passenger trains smoothly after the lockdown is lifted. The Railway has also taken up platform surface maintenance work at the Kiul and Lakhisarai stations and expedited the road over bridge (ROB) construction at Lakhisarai, besides starting another ROB at Manpur near Gaya. Track doubling of the Ramana-Singhrauli (160km) and Keraila Road Shaktinagar (32km) routes is currently in full swing and is being completed on the scheduled time. In fact, ECR, which had cancelled all its 274 mail and express trains and 389 other passenger trains due to the lockdown, has carried out track maintenance, overhead electric wires (OHE) repair, bridge and signal maintenance work on almost every important route of the ECR's five divisions during the lockdown period.
