The East Central Railway (ECR), in the Budget for 2017-2018, has secured a funding booster of Rs. 3,696cr. The allocated funds would be invested on carrying out new railway projects in Bihar, said A K Rajak, CPRO, ECR, recently and added that ECR has got an allocation of funds for laying Sakri-Hasanpur (Rs. 50cr), Khagaria-Kusheshwarsthan (Rs. 30cr), Nateshwar-Islampur (Rs. 16cr), Neora-Seikhpura (Rs. 50cr), Sakri-Laukaha-Nirmali-Saharsa-Forbesganj (Rs. 125cr), and Hajipur-Sugauli (Rs.75 crore) new lines. It may be recalled that the first merged Budget has the provisions for new lines on Chhapra-Muzaffarpur (Rs. 100cr), Motihari-Sitamarhi (Rs. 100cr), Muzaffarpur-Katra-Janakpur Road (Rs. 50cr), Araria-Supaul (Rs. 100cr), Dehri-on-Sone-Banjari (Rs. 15cr), Maharajganj-Masrakh (Rs. 30cr), Gaya-Bodhgaya-Chatra-Gaya-Natesar (Rs. 15cr), Hathwa-Bhatni (Rs. 20cr), Araria-Galgalia-Thakurganj (Rs.50cr), and Jogbani-Biratnagar (Rs. 200cr) routes. These apart, Rs. 25-cr has been allocated to complete the approach road to Kosi bridge and also for track doubling on the Hajipur-Ramdayalu Nagar (Rs. 125cr), Hajipur-Bachchwara (Rs. 50cr), Samastipur-Darbhanga (Rs. 50cr), Kiul-Gaya (Rs.100cr), Pirpainti-Bhagalpur (Rs. 30cr) and Chhapra-Ballia (Rs. 110cr), he claimed.
