The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA), which has fast-tracked the construction of two rail over bridges at Vizag in Andhra Pradesh entailing an investment of ₹150 crore, has managed to secure approval for the construction of yet another RoB to be constructed at an investment of ₹16 crore. The work of this RoB has also been included in the contract awarded to the successful bidder of the project and made it a part of the ongoing NAD Flyover project. Metropolitan commissioner P Koteswara Rao informed that the urban development body will pay around ₹2 crore to the railways towards way leave, supervision, and other departmental charges. In this connection, VMRDA will enter into MoU with East Coast Railways for the construction of the RoB. Rites Limited, an empanelled consulting agency of the railways, is the project management consultant for the multilevel grade separator (flyover) project. The VMRDA commissioner recently inspected the NAD flyover project as well as the site for the proposed RoB between the two existing RoBs on the airport side. This RoB could not be taken up in the last two years due to pending clearance from railways.
