DMRC secures Rs. 763-cr in Delhi's Budget

Close on the heel of securing a staggering sum worth Rs. 5,579-cr in the Union Budget, which marked a jump of about 31% over the previous year, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also secured Rs. 763-cr from the Delhi government in its recently announced Budget proposals. The fund flow will help the national capital's transporter to carry out the targeted expansion in its mass rapid transit system stretching across multiple phases, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi, said adding that the earmarked funds will help the DMRC in its financial requirement to expand its daily ridership targets to 41 lakh by this year end. At present, about 27 lakh people commute daily across the national capital using the Metro. The ridership which is expected to increase to 41 lakh after the completion of its phase-III will bring more areas into its fold.
