In order to build world-class smart city project at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, the state would contribute just 10% of the total cost involving an investment of Rs. 2,500cr. Prior to this, the Centre had proposed grant for the Smart City scheme under the 50:50 pattern with both the state and Union governments contributing equal share for the project but now the Smart City project will now be built under 90:10 sharing pattern, Urban Development Minister, Sudhir Sharma said, adding that in this regard, municipal corporation also held first ever meet with officials of various departments for the implementation and expansion plans under this project. There was also proposal to create 89.8km additional footpaths in the town under this project. It is also planned that corporation area have 60 smart kiosks, 100 public convenience centres, LED-based lighting and widening the streets from 9m to 12m. For the Tibetans-in-exile under the Smart City project will be provided benefits under state government plans but as the civic body is catering to households of the town, particularly the corporation area.
