Delhi gets Rs. 658-cr for five infra projects

Injecting a major infra booster to the national capital, the central government has recently cleared a staggering sum worth Rs. 658-cr to complete five major infrastructure projects aimed at unclogging key stretches in Delhi. The projects included the completion of the stalled grade separator at Rani Jhansi Road, a project that started in 2006 and also a flyover and underpass connecting Mahipalpur, Aerocity, IGI Airport and NH-8 to provide direct access to the airport for passengers coming from south Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurgaon.

There is also a proposal for a skywalk and Foot Over Bridge (FOB) near ITO; a flyover-cum-rail over bridge near Narela for providing direct access from NH-1 to the Bawana Industrial Complex and widening of the road near Kashmiri Gate ISBT and Nigambodh ghat. The cleared funds flowed from the urban development fund, which DDA collects as onetime charge for conversion of leasehold properties to freehold to be used for social and physical infrastructure projects.
