The Bangalore-based Air Excellence Aviation Private Ltd (AEAPL), which has a tie-up with the cargo aircraft division of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and the partners are planning to set up small airports and Air Logistics Centres(ALC) across the country. The company intends to set up 100 Business Development Areas (BDAs) which will have small airports and equal number of ALCs that comprise airstrips for cargo handling across tier 2 and 3 cities on a large scale and has already engaged state governments and private players to execute these projects, Chairman and Managing Director, AEAPL, Manish Kapoor said, adding that the company will own a majority stake of 51% in 10 BDAs and equal number of ALCs, while the remaining portion of stake in projects will be taken up with partners willing to invest the entire funds as each of the BDAs and ALCs require an investment of Rs. 100cr, he added.
