Clearing hardship for the widening of the NH-24 road stretch running between Nizamuddin Bridge and Delhi border as the Delhi government has recently notified permission to cut trees and cleared nearly 3.49 lakh sq. meters for carrying out construction by NHAI. In a related development, the highway authority also opened the bids for the stretch between Delhi Border and Dasna in which sources said APCO-Chetak, a joint venture entity, has quoted the lowest price for the bid. It may be recalled that APCO-Chetak was the successful bidder for Dasna to Hapur stretch. The Nizamuddin Bridge to Hapur stretch has been divided into three packages. Now the last hurdle is to get the 'go ahead' from the NGT for construction of two bridges on the Yamuna and expansion of flyover at Games Village, which falls in the flood plain zone. The case will be heard next week and once it hands over the land to NHAI, the nodal road building agency will meet the mandatory contractual condition for starting work on this stretch, said NHAI sources.
