Decks cleared for Rs. 685 cr NH project

National Highway Project
The Union Government has initiated the process to kick-start Madurai-Rameswaram national highway project entailing an investment of Rs. 685 crore. The mega project had got entangled in legal problems but now the government has informed the Madras High Court that the ongoing four lane project from Madurai to Paramakudi would be extended to Rameswaram. The union secretary for the road transport has issued an order regarding the same, the counsel for the central government submitted when the Madurai Bench of the high court was hearing a PIL filed by an advocate of Ramanathapuram recently. A division bench of Justices, S.Nagamuthu and Muralidharan, closed the case after the submission by the counsel.
