The Daman Ganga River bridge in Valsad district, Gujarat, has been completed as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. A total of 25 river bridges are being constructed along the high-speed rail corridor.

The Daman Ganga River bridge

The bullet train alignment in Valsad spans approximately 56 km, including 4.3 km in Dadra & Nagar Haveli, from Zaroli to Vaghaldara villages. It features the Vapi Bullet Train station, a 350-meter tunnel, five river bridges, and a 210-meter PSC bridge.

The newly completed Daman Ganga bridge is 360 meters long, comprising nine full-span girders of 40 meters each. Its piers range from 19 to 29 meters in height, with varying diameters up to 5.5 meters. Located between Boisar and Vapi stations, the bridge is about 1 km from Vapi and 61 km from Boisar. Other completed bridges in Valsad include Auranga (320 m), Par (320 m), Kolak (160 m), and Darotha (80 m).

The Daman Ganga River originates from Sahyadri hills near Valveri village of Nasik district in Maharashtra. It flows for about 131 kilometers, passing through Maharashtra, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman before draining into the Arabian Sea.

The river is a crucial source of water for drinking, irrigation, and industrial use. Industrial towns like Vapi, Dadra and Silvassa are situated on its banks. The Madhuban Dam, built on the river, is a major water resource project that benefits Gujarat, DNH and Daman & Diu, providing water for irrigation, water supply, and power generation.
