CIDCO Finalizes DPR for Navi Mumbai Airport Express Line Metro

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is nearing completion of the detailed project report (DPR) for the Airport Express Line Metro, a transformative project aimed at connecting Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The project, estimated to cost ₹15,000 crore, will significantly enhance connectivity between Mumbai's two major airports.
Spanning 34 km, the metro corridor will consist of 25.8 km of elevated tracks and 8.2 km of underground sections, featuring 20 stations — 14 elevated and six underground. By 2061, the line is projected to accommodate 22.7 lakh daily passengers, with a peak hour peak direction traffic (PHPDT) of 37,000 commuters.
The metro line is designed to improve east-west connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), seamlessly integrating with Mumbai’s existing metro network, suburban rail system, and key bus terminals. This enhanced connectivity will provide easier access to economic zones, institutional areas, and emerging commercial hubs, fostering economic growth and reducing travel times across the MMR.
