CIAL & KMRL to Collaborate on Underground Metro Line at Nedumbassery

CIAL & KMRL

Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) and Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) are set to collaborate on constructing a proposed underground metro line and station at Nedumbassery. The plan is part of KMRL's Phase-III expansion, which will connect Aluva with Angamaly.

KMRL aims to develop a 3-kilometer underground metro segment with a station directly linked to the airport, similar to Delhi Metro's Airport Express Line, which connects New Delhi with Indira Gandhi International Airport.

As outlined in Phase-III, the extension will begin at Aluva, running along National Highway-544 until Aleena Valavu near Akaparambu. From there, it will pass through Kariyad-Airport-Mattoor road, reaching the international airport at Nedumbassery. The line will then continue along the Angamaly-Airport road, extend through MC Road, and proceed towards Angamaly and beyond. The total estimated construction cost for this phase is around ₹8,000 crore.
