The Centre plans to implement road projects worth ₹50,000 crores to decongest roads in the national capital and reduce pollution currently plaguing the city. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said in a statement that the ministry is developing the Dwarka Expressway at a cost of ₹10,000 crore and a dedicated Delhi-Dhaula Kuan road corridor is also being constructed. More such projects and spots are being identified to decongest the city. He added that the government has introduced innovative solutions to speed up construction of on-going road projects. There was a time when the speed of road building in the country was 2 km per day and now it is 30 km per day. He also allayed fears of fund crunch and said that 5,126 km of highways have been constructed till October in 2019-20 as compared to 10,855 km highways in 2018-19.
