Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) minister of Telangana has informed that the Union government has till date provided ₹1,200 crore Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the Hyderabad Metro rail project. For the world's biggest Metro rail project under Public Private Partnership with an investment of ₹14,000 crore, the Centre's share as VAF is ₹1,450 crore and the remaining ₹250 crore is yet to be released. The Metro rail is set to start construction work on Phase-II of the mega project. As of now, the project has been very successful as about four lakh passenger travel in the Metro daily and to ensure smooth operations, tenders have been issued for 20 multi-level car parking facilities as currently there are facilities for parking of over 20,000 two-wheelers across all Metro stations in the city.
