The civil aviation ministry has given administrative approval for an investment of ₹611.80 crore to upgrade Vijayawada airport in Andhra Pradesh. Union Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri informed that the project completion deadline is March 2023 while the Central government had cleared the project in June 2020. The work includes the building of a new terminal, Air Traffic Controller (ATC) tower, among others. The Centre has already invested ₹11.33 crore on the works related to the construction of a new integrated terminal, apron, link taxiway and allied works at the airport.
