CCI Approves Vedanta’s Acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates Under Insolvency Process

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL) by Vedanta Limited. The proposed combination involves the acquisition of JAL under a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) initiated in accordance with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.

Vedanta Limited, incorporated in India and listed on both the BSE and NSE, is a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources Limited. The company is a diversified natural resources, critical minerals, energy, and technology enterprise with operations across oil and gas, zinc, lead, silver, copper, iron ore, steel, nickel, aluminium, and power.

Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL) is an infrastructure and industrial company engaged in diverse sectors including real estate, cement, hospitality, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). Group companies of JAL are also involved in power, fertilizers, sports, and aviation. The company is currently undergoing a CIRP under the IBC framework.
