Cabinet clears Rs.1,889 cr road project

Providing fast-tracked road connectivity between Maharashtra and Karnataka, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has recently given its formal approval for four laning of Solapur-Bijapur section of New NH-52. The development of four lanes of 110 km entailed an investment of Rs.1,889 crore including the cost of land acquisition and pre-construction activities, said official sources, reiterating that the road stretch connects southern and northern parts of the country. The project will serve as an alternative route to North-South Corridor of the National Highways Development Program. Apart from this, it will also help in expediting the improvement of infrastructure in Maharashtra and Karnataka states. Besides, increasing economic activities providing employment to the local masses.
