The Union Cabinet has cleared the Patna Metro Rail project to be built with two corridors at a cost of ₹13,411.24 crore and the PM will soon lay the foundation stone. The DPR has got central government's nod, and will be commissioned in two phases. Phase 1 of the project will have two corridors connecting Patna West to Patna East and another will run between South and North areas of the city. After completion, the Patna Metro will connect Didarganj and Danapur on the outskirts of the state capital. It will pass through central areas of Patna – Dak-bungalow Chowk, the main arterial road of the city Frazer Road and Gandhi Maidan. The main Patna Metro stations will come up at Saguna More, Dak bungalow Chowk, Bailey More, Gandhi Maidan, Frazer Road, Danapur, Digha, Kurji, Raja Pul, Gandhi Maidan, Ashok Rajpath, Agamkuan, and Didarganj. The mega project is estimated to cost over ₹17,000 crore and will be completed in 5 years. While a portion of the cost will be borne by the central and state governments, the lion share will come through financial bidding, said official sources.
