Breakthrough Achieved at 4.5 km Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand

Marking a major milestone under the Chardham Mahamarg project, the 4.531 km Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand has achieved successful breakthrough. This all-weather tunnel is set to significantly enhance connectivity between Gangotri and Yamunotri, reducing travel time by an hour and ensuring safer, more reliable access for pilgrims year-round.

Constructed at a cost of ₹1,383.78 crore, the project exemplifies Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of infrastructure-led development, combining advanced engineering with a strong focus on timely delivery and public benefit.
