BMRCL readies DPR for Phase 2A & 2B Metros

Namma Metro
As required by the Union railway ministry, BMRC has submitted the DPR for Phase 2A and Phase 2B of the Metro corridors connecting Bengaluru's software hubs — Central Silk Board in the south to airport in the north located about 40km from the city. The ORR and airport lines covering a total length of 56km with 31 stations catalyze Bengaluru's and India's economic growth. BMRCL and the state government have matched the norms laid down by the Centre to kickstart the project as quickly as possible. Most of Bengaluru's software industry is located in areas like Electronics City, Sarjapur, Bellandur, Whitefield and Hebbal, which are not connected by the Metro. The state has called upon the Union minister of housing and urban affairs for expediting approval for Metro connectivity to Outer Ring Road and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
