BMRCL plans underground ring metro project

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to start preliminary work on an inner ring metro to resolve congestion in core areas of the city. The planned 35 km underground metro line connects Sandal Soap Factory and Ulsoor via CV Raman Road-Jayamahal Road before reaching Wilson Garden via Domlur. The other half will connect Srinagar and turn right on Chord Road to complete the circling and the route may undergoes several changes before a proposal is finalized, BMRCL Managing Director Ajay Seth, said that the metro was not the only option and they will assess the traffic and feasibility of a metro. The Comprehensive Mobility Plan being prepared by BMRCL and DULT will cover potential mass transport corridors, including the rapid bus transport system in the areas not connected by metro.
