BMRCL gets go-ahead for Phase-II expansion

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL)
Decks have been cleared for construction work on the four-acre Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) land, which has brought the construction work of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to a grinding halt. Now that the compensation issues have been resolved, the state CM instructed the officials to deposit the amount in court and go ahead with the civil work. The delay over acquiring four acres of NICE land was hampering the Metro work on the Mysore road (Challaghatta stretch) Tumkur road (Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) stretch, Kanakapura Main road stretch and the Hosur road stretch. Until recently, BMRCL was unable to start work on four stretches of Phase II project as he NICE company had brought a court stay on the land acquisition process. The instructions were given after BMRCL reached out to the CM for advice on fixing the compensation amount for the land. The CM asked the Advocate General of Karnataka to give an opinion on fixing the compensation package.
