BMRCL floats tenders for ₹1,906-cr metro projects

BMRCL
BMRCL has floated a civil work tender on the 36-km long KR Puram-Kempegowda International Airport line involving an investment of ₹1,906 crore. It carried out in three packages — ₹639.9 crore, ₹645.3 crore and ₹620.9 crore. It has secured NOC from the Asian Development Bank, which is funding the project. The first package will have eight stations: Kasturinagar, Horamavu, HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, HBR Layout, Nagawara, Veerannapalya and Kempapura. The next will house Hebbal, Kodigehalli, Jakkur Cross, Yelahanka and Bagalur Cross stations and the third package is between Bettahalasuru and Doddajala near Yelahanka Air Force Station which will be constructed underground to not disrupt the airbase operations. Bangalore International Airport Limited will build the two proposed Airport City stations and KIA Terminal on the airport premises for which a separate tender will be floated. The Centre has already given in-principle permission to seek loan funding from ADB and JICA. The move is expected to benefit thousands of airport-bound passengers and local commuters who are facing problems while commuting to the airport.
