The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated the tender process for two significant infrastructure projects in Mumbai. The first project involves the design and construction of a bridge connecting Madh and Versova. Earlier this year, on January 17, the civic bridges department received Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) clearances for the construction of this connector. The estimated cost of the project is ₹1800 crores. The proposed bridge, spanning 600 meters with a clear obligatory span of 300 meters over Versova creek, aims to provide direct road connectivity between the two areas, eliminating the need for ferry services currently in use.
Additionally, the BMC has invited tenders for appointing contractors to design and construct an elevated road for establishing east-west connectivity over Khar subway in the west and Bandra terminus in Bandra east. The estimated contract cost for this project is ₹1300 crores. The construction period for both projects is approximately three years each, inclusive of monsoon months.
