BMC approves ₹148-cr for Gargai dam project

In a bid to ensure sufficient drinking water to the local masses, Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sanctioned ₹148 crore to acquire land for starting construction work on a Gargai Dam in Dahisar Eksar Village located on the outskirts of the metropolitan city. The mega dam project spread across 849 hectares, also covers other villages including Oghade and Palghar on the Gargai river, a tributary of the Vaitarna river and is proposed to increase the water supply in and around the metropolitan city.
