Work on the mega Polavaram irrigation project on the Godavari river in West Godavari district has been started by the new contractor, Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd, AP. The Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav informed that the state has saved as much as ₹800 crore by adopting the reverse tendering process which the High Court has cleared. The remaining head works and the hydro power project work has also been awarded to Megha Engineering - the sole bidder. The previous contract given to Navayuga Engineering by the then TDP government had been revoked. Navayuga had moved the High Court. Megha Engineering plans to complete the Polavaram Project by May-June, 2021.
