Bengal clears Rs. 400-cr for NH project

Bengal NH Projects
In order to steer clear the NH-34 project, the state government in West Bengal has recently cleared Rs. 400 crore for the Krishnanagar-Behrampore stretch and the move will pave the way for the early completion of the mega road project. The highway in question, which is a lifeline between north and south Bengal, will be a six-lane, 421km high-speed corridor that will cut-down travel time nearly by half, besides boosting trade and economic activities. In this connection, both the Centre and state came together in resolving hurdles, mostly land-and-fund issues, which have been resolved in the recently held review meeting. The state also plans to connect two NHs with a state highway and the work to connect Hooghly and Nadia by the expressway is on the cards and it is expected to start after completion of the ongoing project to widen the road connecting the state with Delhi.
