BBMP Road Project
In order to solve the traffic congestion problems in the Bangalore city, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is contemplating to widen the road at an investment of Rs. 2,200cr. The total cost of the project also included the construction of a flyover at a cost of Rs.1,350cr, as this is reported to be the main stumbling block causing perpetually traffic snarls on the road stretch. The main problem was to acquire a portion of Palace Grounds from the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru. Moreover, the High Court of Karnataka recently ordered the BBMP to speed up the land acquisition by issuing the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) to the royals to fast track the mega project, a senior BBMP engineer said.
