BBMP clears ₹438-cr smart roads

The committee of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has started the process of building 20 smart roads under the Centre's Smart City Project at a total investment of ₹438 crores. The smart roads will feature smart signaling, light controlled crossing for pedestrians, digitally enabled information boards, and smart parking systems, entailing an investment of ₹230 crore. BBMP sources said that the plan is to upgrade and digitalize 20 roads located in city's center into hi-tech, advanced roads. After completing the tendering process, the civic body has now finalized the bidders and work will start soon. The completion timeline required is 15 months. BBMP is also finalizing a bidder for more roads under the same project under Phase-2 at an investment of ₹208 crores.
