Aviation fixes ₹1 lakh-cr small airports on radar

In a bid to match the rising demand in the country's aviation sector and boosting regional connectivity, the government has earmarked a staggering sum worth ₹1 lakh crore for the development of small airports at small parcel of land across the country. Amid growing air traffic, government is facing issues with lesser availability of land for infrastructure projects like airports. To counter this problem, the aviation ministry is in consultation with experts within and outside the country is working out ways of creating infrastructural facilities across new airports with less availability of land, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said, claiming that apart from intra-city helicopter services, the government also plans to invest huge funds on the development of airport infrastructure across existing and upcoming aviation facilities.
