In order to kick-start scores of road and bridge projects across the state, the Assam CM has urged the Union Transport Minister to launch the construction work of the bridge connecting Jorhat and Majuli for which the foundation stone has already been laid. Prior to this, the CM had extensive discussions on the issues of road and bridge construction in the state and their maintenance. For the construction of Gohpur-Numaligarh bridge, land acquisition issue pertaining to the Dhubri-Phulbari connecting bridge are also being resolved. The CM stated that both the Central and the State governments are jointly taking steps to develop world class road and transport network in the state and the construction work is set to be fast tracked as the monsoon has started receding across the north eastern region.
